Uzbekistan Updates Duty-Free Limits

Uzbekistan has introduced new rules for duty-free import and export of goods by individuals, based on Resolution No. 244 of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The updated regulations define clear value-based limits for non-commercial, personal imports:

  • By air: up to $1,000

  • By rail or river: up to $500

  • By road or pedestrian checkpoints: up to $300

  • By international courier: up to $200

  • By international mail: up to $100

The established rules for duty-free import during one calendar month apply to goods imported via international courier shipments addressed to individuals.

Additionally, quantitative restrictions have been introduced for specific goods, including:

  • Alcohol – up to 2 liters

  • Tobacco – up to 200 cigarettes or equivalents

  • Perfume – up to 3 items (max. 300 ml)

  • Dietary supplements – limits vary by form (e.g., up to 100 tablets or 10 vials)

Export rules have also been revised. Individuals can now take out certain food and household items within new quantity thresholds (e.g., up to 3 kg of rice, 5 kg of bakery products, 2 liters of oil, and 40 kg of fresh or dried produce).

Important: duty-free rules do not apply if the individual has spent less than 2 days abroad by land/rail, or less than 3 days by air. In such cases, full customs duties will be charged on the entire value of the imported goods.

Goods valued up to $5,000 can be exported without a customs declaration, unless export duties apply.
