Serbia to Become a Regional AI Hub – Driving Foreign Talent Relocation
Serbia is set to become the owner of the largest supercomputer cluster in Southeast Europe by the end of 2026 or early 2027, reinforcing its position as an emerging regional hub for artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. The project, valued at EUR 50 million, is being developed in cooperation with France and is currently entering its final preparatory phase, with ratification of the intergovernmental agreement expected in 2026.
The supercomputer will be dedicated to the development and application of artificial intelligence solutions across key sectors, including healthcare, e-government, energy, and transport. Of the total investment, EUR 36 million will be allocated to the supercomputer infrastructure, software, and generative AI models, while an additional EUR 14 million will support the development of AI-based projects and services.
The system will be based on 640 NVIDIA Grace Hopper superchips distributed across 160 computing nodes, with a data storage capacity of 2.5 petabytes. It will be housed at the State Data Center in Kragujevac, where a dedicated space with advanced water-cooling systems has already been designed, enabling integration with existing national supercomputing resources.
This strategic investment is expected to accelerate digital transformation, attract international technology companies, research initiatives, and highly skilled professionals, and contribute to increased international mobility and foreign workforce inflows into Serbia in the coming period.
