Serbia Launches E-Visa System: First Passengers Arrived on 9th June 2025

Serbia officially launched its new e-visa system, marking a significant step forward in modernizing public services. Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić and Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović welcomed the first passengers entering the country with electronic visas at Nikola Tesla Airport on 9th June 2025.

The new system allows citizens from 46 countries to apply for a Serbian C visa entirely online, without visiting embassies or consulates. Minister Đurić called it a "quantum leap" in visa policy and a key move toward making Serbia more accessible, especially ahead of EXPO 2027.

Jovanović explained that the application process is done via online government portal, where applicants upload passport data, a photo, and travel details. Once approved, the e-visa is sent in PDF format and verified electronically at the border. The system is available 24/7, from anywhere in the world. As Intermark has already reported, the use of the e-visa system is expected to expand in the future to include additional nationalities, as well as other visa categories such as the D visa.

"This shows Serbia is a leader in digital public services and open to tourism, investment, and global cooperation," Jovanović said.

The first travelers to enter Serbia with C type e-visas were two women from the Kingdom of Lesotho, personally welcomed by Minister Đurić.

Intermark provides comprehensive assistance with Serbian e-visa applications, guiding clients through each stage of the process to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely approvals.
