Serbia Aligns Visa Rules

Serbia has introduced visa requirements for nationals from Qatar, Mongolia, Oman, and Kuwait as part of its effort to align its visa policies with European Union standards by end of 2026. This move marks a significant step in Serbia's EU accession process, aiming to harmonize with EU visa policies.

The new requirements are expected to impact travel for nationals from these countries, potentially causing delays in visa processing that may impact both tourism and business trips. It is anticipated that Serbia may expand visa requirements to additional countries in the near future.

Serbia’s EU integration journey began in 2009, and although it was granted EU candidate status in 2012, recent political challenges have slowed the pace of reforms. Serbia’s ability to meet EU standards in areas like immigration and border control will be closely monitored as part of the accession process.
