Romania: sets work permit quota for 2026
The Romanian government has approved a quota of 90,000 work permits for nationals of non-EU, non-EEA, and non-Swiss countries for 2026. This is 10,000 fewer than in 2025, despite ongoing labor shortages in construction, manufacturing, and services.
Employers note that demand significantly exceeds the quota. In 2026, authorities plan to simplify certain procedures and strengthen oversight of recruitment agencies and working conditions for foreign employees.
