Kazakhstan to allow foreign nationals to apply for Tax ID at diplomatic missions abroad

We would like to inform you that foreign nationals will be able to procure an individual identification number (IIN or Tax ID) at embassies and consulates of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad under the terms of a pilot public service project, which will start on 13 April 2024 and last until 31 December 2024.

Order No. 11-1-4/113 of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 19, 2024, No. 246 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 19, 2024 and No. 166/NK of the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 19, 2024
What are the changes?
A foreign national, will be able to procure an individual identification number (IIN) within 1 working day following the day of application by applying in person to a consulate or embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad and presenting only a passport and its copy.
The list of foreign diplomatic missions participating in the project includes 96 consulates and embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan located in 68 countries.
Who is affected?
Foreign nationals planning to procure an IIN, in particular with aim to open a bank account in Kazakhstan.
