Kazakhstan Enables Tax ID Abroad
We would like to inform you that foreign nationals will be able to procure an individual identification number (IIN or Tax ID) at embassies and consulates of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad within the framework of the renewed pilot public service project, which will start on 18 April 2025 and last until 31 December 2025.
The main task of the pilot project implementation is to provide and organize favorable conditions for foreign citizens.

Joint order No. 11-1-4/181 of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 27, 2025, No. 225 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 27, 2025 and No. 129/NK of the acting Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 28, 2025
What are the changes?
A foreign national, will be able to procure an individual identification number (IIN) within 1 working day following the day of application by applying in person to a consulate or embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad by presenting the necessary documents depending on the category of foreigners listed below.
A refusal to issue an IIN shall be issued in case of establishing unreliability of documents and/or data contained in them, inconsistency of data and information, as well as identification of a foreigner with a previously registered IIN.
The list of foreign diplomatic missions participating in the project includes 100 consulates and embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan located in 72 countries.
Who is affected?

potential investors;

participants in the circulation of goods within the framework of product labeling and traceability;

foreign citizens who are spouses of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan (for registering civil status records in the Civil Registry Information System);

minors (under 16) who are citizens of a foreign state and have at least one parent who is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
-
foreign citizens accepting inheritance;
-
potential participants of the Digital Nomad Residency and Digital Nomad Visa programs;

foreign citizens with disabilities;
-
foreign citizens aged 65 and older;
-
manufacturers and registrants of plant protection products (pesticides);

foreign citizens who are heads of legal entities, branches, and/or representative offices registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

staff of representative offices – through Ministry.
