Italy Mandates Fingerprints for Long-Term Visas

Starting January 11, 2025, all applicants for Italy's long-term national visas are required to have their biometric data, including fingerprints, collected at the nearest consular office. This new rule applies to a variety of visa categories, including employment, study, and family reunification.

Applicants for both Schengen (type C) and national (type D) visas must appear in person at the consulate to have their biometric data collected. International students applying for visas are also required to schedule appointments at the consulate for the biometric submission.

This measure is part of Italy's broader effort to enhance security procedures and ensure more accurate tracking of foreign nationals entering the country.
