Hungary suspends guest worker applications for citizens of 3 countries
From 5 June 2026, Hungary has suspended new applications under its streamlined Guest Worker recruitment scheme for nationals of Georgia, Armenia, and the Philippines.
The measure applies to new applications under the streamlined recruitment system that had allowed Hungarian employers and licensed staffing agencies to hire workers from these countries more quickly.
Foreign nationals who already hold valid Guest Worker permits may continue to apply for permit extensions, while applications submitted before 5 June 2026 will continue to be processed under the previous rules.
Companies planning to hire foreign workers in Hungary should review the available immigration options, as recruitment pathways may now differ depending on the applicant's nationality and the type of employment.
