Hungary: maintains guest worker quota
The Hungarian government has officially confirmed that the annual quota for guest workers (Guest Worker Permits) and work permits for third-country nationals will remain at 35,000 in 2026, the same level as in 2025. The quota includes both standard work permits and special guest worker permits.
Authorities continue to prioritize employment for Hungarian citizens. New work permits for non-EU nationals are primarily issued to citizens of Armenia and Georgia, with some exceptions. The Guest Investor program (similar to a Golden Visa) remains in place but is currently under pressure from the EU.
