EU: protection status update
Ukrainian citizens who have already obtained a protection status (pursuant to Article 24 of the Residence Act) in one European Union member state are no longer eligible to apply for such status again in another EU country. This provision was introduced through an implementation decision (EU) 2025/1460 published on July 24, 2025 (link). Applications seeking this type of status must now be denied by any other EU country where the individual intends to relocate.
