Czech Republic Tightens Reporting

The Czech Ministry of Labor has updated its notification rules for employers hiring foreign nationals, now requiring notifications both when hiring and during residence permit renewals

Previously, registration with the Labor Office was only mandatory when a foreign employee was first hired. However, starting March 2025, employers must now also complete this registration each time an employee’s residence permit is renewed. This change is due to the fact that renewed residence permits are issued with new permit numbers, which must be reported to the authorities.

The notification must be submitted online, and employers are required to retain proof of submission. This rule applies to all foreign workers, including EU/EEA and Swiss nationals who are locally hired.

Once the employee receives a new residence permit, employers must submit an updated notification to the Labor Office, including the new permit number. The same administrative fee applies as during the initial hire.

This change tightens compliance rules to ensure the Ministry of Labor keeps accurate records of foreign workers' employment and residency status.
