Croatia Extends Digital Nomad Residence to 18 Months

In April 2025, Croatia introduced a major update to its immigration policy for digital nomads. The temporary residence permit for digital nomads is now valid for 18 months, with a one-time renewal option for an additional 18 months. This extends the maximum stay to 36 months (previously 12 + 6 months).

To qualify, applicants must:

  1. Be a non-EU/EEA citizen.

  2. Work remotely using modern IT tools — without being employed in Croatia or working with Croatian clients.

  3. Show a stable monthly income of at least €3,295. For a full 18-month visa, proof of savings is also required (€3,295 × 18 = €59,310).

  4. Have valid health insurance.

  5. Provide a clean criminal record.

  6. Show proof of suitable accommodation in Croatia.
